Your garage door gets a lot of use, so of course repairs will be needed from time to time, especially as the door ages. Garage doors have many moving parts, so any repairs are best left to the professionals. Our team of Knights have worked on garage doors for years and can diagnose and repair problems quickly.

Some common reasons why your garage door may need repairs

1. Broken springs

Garage doors use either torsion or extension springs to open and close. These are put under a lot of tension when the door is closed in order to create the strength needed to lift the door. If the coils are worn or the spring snaps, your door may not open.

2. Your garage door is noisy

While it’s normal for the door to make some noise as it opens or closes, it should be regular and smooth. If the sound is particularly loud or seems worse than normal, it could be due to issues with the springs, hinges or the tracks that allow your garage door to slide open and closed.

3. The motor isn’t working

If your garage door suddenly stops working, start by checking your remote. It’s most likely the batteries need replacing or the remote itself may be broken. If this doesn’t fix the problem, give us a call.

4. The door is slow to respond

If it seems that your garage door has a delay before responding to the control, it can indicate a problem with the sensors or a faulty connection in the circuitry.

5. Shaking when opening or closing

A shaky garage door can be caused by loose hinges or screws, corroded or broken tracks, or the rollers may have come off the tracks.

6. Broken cables

Over time the drum cables can rust or fray. This can cause the cables to completely snap so your door won't open or close.
